MIND Windows XP Installation Guide
From the Start menu, select Control Panel. When the Control Panel window opens, double-click Network Connections.
In the window that appears, look at the "Network Tasks" panel and select "Create a new connection." This will bring up the "New
Connection Wizard."
When prompted for your "Network Connection Type", select Connect to the Internet and click Next again.
The third screen is titled "Getting Ready". Select Set up my connection manually and click Next.
The fourth screen is titled "Internet Connection." Select Connect using a dialup modem and click Next.
This produces the "Connection Name" window. Enter MIND, then click Next.
The sixth screen prompts you for the phone number to dial. Change the phone number to the correct number for your area.
This produces the "Internet Account Information" window. In the User Name field, type your user name (Exp. johndoe@k12.mindnet.org).
In the password field, type in your password, then type it in again in the Confirm Password field.
This produces the final wizard window. You can check the box if you want to create a desktop shortcut for this connection,
or leave it unchecked if you don't want a desktop shortcut. Click Finish.
You're not quite finished with configuration even though the wizard is finished.
Right-click on this icon and select Properties. This produces the Properties window.
Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" if not already checked.
